Composed by Robert A. Howard. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score. 2 pages. Robert A. Howard #5888845. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998778).

The starting point for this piece is a variant of the opening snare drum rhythm of the second movement of Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra (1943). This work was originally a short piece from 1995 (marking 50 years after Bartok's death). It was later extended and elaborated upon to make this virtuosic two-minute study. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for most standards of percussionist, including students and more advanced players. A companion piece, 'Study for Snare No. 2' by Robert A. Howard is also available from Sheet Music Plus.
Duration: 2 minutes 10 seconds.
