Published by Mark Lansom (A0.759567).Haydn's (though most probably Hoffstetter's) famous Serenade, in a sound-alike arrangement. Middle parts are slightly redistributed for ease in the third violin part, which is the same as the viola part and can be omitted. Cello and bass parts are alike, so it can also be played by string quartet. There is some careful editing, including indications as to whether the grace notes should be on or before the beat. Written with school groups in mind that might have a few good violins to play the melody. It's tiring for young players to play so much pizzicato, but with one violin part made easier takes much less rehearsal time! However it can be enjoyed by string players of all ages. Score and parts included.
