Die Musik des russischen Komponisten schweizerischer Abstammung Paul Juon (geboren 1872 in Moskau, gestorben 1940 in Vevey) nimmt durch ihren ganz eigenen spätromantischen Stil für sich ein. Das fehlende Glied zwischen Tschaikowsky und Strawinsky soll ein Kritiker gesagt haben. Die Grenzen der Tonalität auslotend ohne sie jedoch zu sprengen, mit volkstümlichen Melodien seiner russischen Heimat vesetzt, wird seine Musik in letzter Zeit zunehmend wiederentdeckt.
