Published by Christopher Evans (A0.846381).An arrangement of the tune, which Mendelssohn composed to the words of a romantic poem by the German poet Heinrich in 1834. The first semiquaver in each arpeggio type phrase in the accompaniment played on the swell is an octave higher than in the original piano accompaniment. This enables the manual part of the accompaniment to be played with one hand on the swell and for the melody to be played on a solo stop on the great or choir with the other hand. For the repeat the solo melody may be played an octave lower on the Gt 8 diapason stop. The arrangement was requested by friends for their golden wedding celebration.
