String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.961283

Composed by James Sclater. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 78 pages. James S Sclater #5998903. Published by James S Sclater (A0.961283).

This work was written to commemorate the 70th anniversary of V-E Day. The movements are built around the names of five Jewish composers murdered by the Nazis during World War II. The composers are Gideon Klein, Hans Krasa, Viktor Ullmann, Pavel Haas, and Erwin Schulhoff. Their productive artistic lives were tragically cut short by the cruelties of the Nazi war machine. This quartet is an attempt to pay homage to them and their work. In movements 2 - 7, the principal melodic ideas come directly from the letters of the names of the five composers. This is a sober and introspective work but does include moments of a more lighthearted style.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
