The intro, interlude and ending are borrowed from Bach's 2-part Invention in A minor. The hymn begins quietly and simple, but builds in intensity by the 2nd verse with bass octaves, chords, and arpeggios and R.H. 3 and 4 note chords. Use rubato on the quieter sections for a very moving performance. LOTS of helpful fingering added (especially the Bach sections!). This tune of the hymn is an old Welsh melody that is very haunting; it blends with the Bach invention very nicely. Great arrangement for church prelude, offertory or special music; impressive recital piece, too. Arranged by Amy J. Snyder.
