By Miley Cyrus. By Gregory Hein, Michael Pollack, and Miley Cyrus. Arranged by Liz Garnett. 21st Century,A Cappella,Barbershop,Pop. 5 pages. Liz Garnett #960728. Published by Liz Garnett (A0.1376178).Miley Cyrus's Grammy-winning celebration of emotional independence is re-imagined as a barbershop contest tune, inspired by the Postmodern Jukebox cover version. It starts off in a wistful free waltz-ballad feel, switches up a gear into a steady swing vibe at the first chorus, and escalates again into a faster, clave-driven Latin vibe before subsiding back into a slower tempo for the very end. There is a hint of the initial wistfulness at the start of the tag, but it settles into a sense of gentle resolution: all is now sorted.
Vocal Ranges:
Tenor: E4 - E5
Lead: G#3 - C#5
Bari: A#3 - B4
Bass: D#3 - F#4
N.B. This arrangement is notated in the traditional clefs for women's barbershop, i.e. treble and bass alta (sounding an octave higher than written).
