Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956643).Franz Schubert’s Marche Militaire is in fact the first – and best known – of the composer’s three military marches written originally for piano duet (four hands). One of Schubert’s best-known tunes, the march has been arranged for a wide variety of instrumental combinations, quoted in other musical works and used as theme music for advertisements, promotional films and radio and TV programmes.
This version, for semi-flexible woodwind trio of 2 flutes plus either B-flat clarinet or bassoon, includes the less well-known trio section. The piece has been classed as 'advanced intermediate', as certain passages are tricky at speed, or include a number of accidentals.
