Worth the money if you care about your carpet
I've got a vintage 6'4" Knabe that weighs just shy of 1000 pounds, or over 300 pounds per leg. Due to the era this piano comes from, the casters are relatively small - probably applying over 300 pounds/square inch.These caster cups feature a felt pad on the bottom and a nicely stained finish. More importantly, they cover a decent amount of surface area, so the half-ton of your piano can be distributed in such a way that won't damage your carpet.There are a few things to note with these. First, they come in a set of 3 - not 4. If you have an upright, get a set of 4.Second, some caster cups feature a small half-cylinder of material removed from the bottom of the cup, to prevent the casters from rotating. These do not have that feature. Correspondingly, you'll have to manually center the casters in each cup.Third, these will elevate your piano about half an inch. In most cases that's not a problem, but you may want to check your pedal travel and toss a rug under the pedals if it's an issue.Overall, I'm quite happy with mine. They match the decor of the room, don't look cheaply made or out of place, and otherwise fulfill their job function. At the price I paid it's a buy-once-cry-once purchase, but one well worth making.
