Complete Piano Sonatas Volume I-Franz Joseph Haydn was a prominent and prolific Austrian composer of the Classical period. He was instrumental in the development of chamber music such as the Piano trio and his contributions to musical form haveearned him the epithets 'Father of the Symphony' and 'Father of the String Quartet'. At the time of his death aged 77 he was one of the most celebrated composers in Europe.Franz Joseph Haydn: Complete PianoSonatas Volume I includes 12 sonatas for solo Piano. Edition without Fingering-Published in a two-volume edition (HN1 and HN2) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 18 Piano Sonatas were the very first pieces in the Henle catalogue. These popular sonatas remain part of the core repertory of everypianist. In the intervening decades since the release of the original Urtext edition both volumes have been revised several times in order to keep pace with the current state of research. The latest update concerning K.331 the “Alla turca” sonata from volume 2 dates from 2015. The editor’s preface and critical report provide detailed information on all the sources and textual issues. HN1 and HN2 include fingerings; here Henlepresents both volumes without fingerings for pianists who want to find their own way into Mozart’s Piano universe. 

The piano sonatas are regarded as the central works of Alexander Skrjabin?s compositional output. No other composer after Beethoven reshaped this genre so radically, thereby reinvigorating the tradition of the sonata. Skrjabin?s desire not simply to continue the existing tradition, but to surpass it, is evident as early as his first sonatas. These are exciting works from the pianist?s perspective and in their abundance of expression and wealth of imagination. Up to the third sonata Skrjabin developed a distinctive feeling for structural coherence and cyclical unity which at the same time revealed poetic qualities.

This volume contains the earlier works; sonatas officially published during the composer?s lifetime as No. 1 op. 6, No. 2 (Sonate-Fantaisie) op. 19 and No. 3 op. 23 as well as the sonatas written during his youth, in G-sharp minor (1886) and E-flat minor (1887-89). The edition also includes the virtually unknown fragment of a sonata in C-sharp minor (1887) and the reconstructed parts of a sonata in G-sharp minor (1892) never previously published.

The editor Christoph Flamm draws on autograph manuscripts, first printed editions and on Russian editions of the 1920s.
