Omicron is an exciting composition for the very beginning band that starts with a three-note idea and steadily builds as the piece progresses. Carefully placed accents make the simple theme float across the bar lines throughout the piece. Sean O'Loughlin has a knack for writing great music for the very youngest of students.

Rejoi ce, Dolce, and Dance is written in three different and distinct styles. Rejoice is fanfare-like in quality and should be played in a bold majestic manner; balance is important in this section. Care should be taken to not let the battery percussion overpower the ensemble The forzandos are very important to the character of the fanfare and should be carefully observed. Dolce is slow and more lyrical in manner. This section should be played in a legato style. The director is encouraged to add his own interpretative elements in this section. The Dance is fast and light in character. Keep the tempo moving and pay special attention to the articulations and dynamics. This award-winning composition is based on the Delta Omicron Keynote, a charming piece from the professional music fraternity's songbook. A tightly-constructed work, virtually every melodic idea is derived from a portion of the Keynote theme which binds the piece together. By turns majestic, energetic, poignant, and triumphant, this piece has it all!
