Kevin G. Pace A sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mark R. Fotheringham. See text below:
Freedom rings in righteousness
When men are true and God confess.
Liberty thrives when men choose good,
When faith and trust are understood.
Souls may soar in wondrous flight.
Wings of the free fly in light,
Never ashamed to be in sight.
Shame and fear, the price of sin,
Creep in the dark to bind again.
Repentance lights the way from death,
Restoring hope, unburdened breath.
Bonds of sin and death be done.
Break ev'ry chain, guilt be gone,
Thanks to Our Lord, atoning One. The Gathering, a sacred hymn

by Kevin G. Pace A sacred hymn about the gathering of Israel on both sides of the veil. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Mark R. Fotheringham. See text below:
The path that leads to covenant is open to mankind,
But people often need a friend, the path to help them find.
An invitation to the truth will serve each person well,
To join the work of gathering on both sides of the veil.
Oh may I seek my neighbors? good by pointing them to God,
And see the joy that comes to those who grasp the iron rod.
The missionary zeal I feel is not some holy grail,
But simple service to each friend on both sides of the veil.
To do the work of gathering needs little more than love
And listening to heaven's voice, the Spirit from above.
Expand my heart to care for all that I may never fail
To reach the ones who wait for me on both sides of the veil. Sorrow For Sin - an original hymn

Sorrow for the sins of the world,
For the wickedness of the whole human race,
Who have polluted Thy wondrous creation
Of this once paradisiacal place.
Sorrow for my own sins committed,
Of word, of deed, or of thought,
When in pride, anger, or ignorance,
Thy ways were not faithfully sought.
Sorrow for the pain that I added
To the anguish suffered by Thy Own Son,
Whose blood like sweat oozed from His pores
As payment for every sin I have done.
May this sorrow lead to my repentance,
To remorse of conscience, reconciliation with man,
As I turn unto Thee with renewal of faith
Seeking forgiveness, a wholeness again. Easter Hymn (from Cavalleria Rusticana)

Intermediate - Mascagni?s draws on church music in this masterful and intense evocation of a small community and one guilt-ridden woman?s position outside of it.
The grand Easter Hymn, scored for pretty much the whole cast of the opera, starts with just a solo organ playing from inside the church nearby. Then we hear an unaccompanied choir singing (in Latin) the beginning of the service ? ?Regina coeli, laetare? ? with the voices of the congregation responding ?Alleluja!?. The choir sings two more phrases and the congregation responds. All this is out of sight. Before The Day Draws Near Its Ending — evening hymn for SATB voices

Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1288836). “Before the day draws near its ending” is an ideal selection for a late afternoon or early evening service of worship such as Evensong (Evening Prayer). A prayer of adoration, it was written by Anglican priest, hymnodist and hymnologist John Ellerton (1826-1893) and first published in the Nantwich (Cheshire, England) Festival Book, 1880, included in the Westminster Abbey Hymn Book in 1883, and re-published in numerous other hymnals. Ellerton is perhaps best known for a similar evening hymn text written a decade earlier, “The day thou gavest, Lord, is ended” (1870).©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Like his father, Johann studied law at the University of Konigsburg, where–in addition to his studies–he developed a warm friendship with a group of hymnists and poets. Returning home, he began his law practice and eventually became mayor of Guben. As an avocation, the Lutheran politician wrote poems–and soonbecame known as one of the leading hymnists of his time, ranked only behind Gerhard. He is credited for the creation of a group of so-called Jesus hymns, building the foundation for the pietistic hymn movement that would later sweep through Europe. Franck once wrote that poetry should be the nurse of piety, the herald of immortality, the promoter of cheerfulness, the conqueror of sadness, and a foretaste of heavenly glory. Indeed, his hymns echoed his own spirit of encouragement.Lyndell Leatherman (b. 1953) was born into a Nazarene parsonage in southeast Kansas. After studying church music and composition at Olivet Nazarene University (Kankakee, Illinois) and Illinois State University (Bloomington-Normal, Illinois), he launched into a life of music ministry. Since 1977 he has enjoyed a diverse career as church musician, editor, accompanist, composer, and arranger. In 1998 he became aware of Franck’s eucharistic / Advent hymn, translated either Deck Thyself with Joy and Gladness (Mattes) or Deck Thyself, My Soul, with Gladness (Winkworth). Because the text was unique in its unusually exultant treatment of the sacrament of holy communion, Lyndell felt that the hymn was worthy of renewed consideration in the third millennium of Christian worship. So he updated the language and gave it the new musical setting used here. ************It has long been my passion and privilege to create customized arrangements for the churches and schools with whom I have been associated. Many were published; some were not. During the 2020 slowdown caused by Covid-19, I finally had the time to start posting the unpublished resources on Sheet Music Plus. As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have mostly elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. (See below for more comment on the texts in this set.) There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The hymns in this set are Children of the Heavenly Father, Day by Day, Thy Holy Wings, and Beautiful Savior. A note on the texts in this set: Having grown up in a Swedish Lutheran church, the grandson of Swedish/Norwegian immigrants, and currently being choir director of another Swedish Lutheran church, these hymns have a special place for me. This set was originally arranged for my church choir with the first verse of each in Swedish. Being under copyright, permission was obtained to use the more familiar English translations of the first three songs for local use. For this edition, I have opted to create my own texts for the first and third hymns while the second is a translation in public domain. I have also provided a verse in English in lieu of the Swedish for those Nordically challenged. The fourth hymn is not a Swedish melody but for obvious reasons is a mainstay of the Lutheran hymnal. Like the other hymns, the first verse is in Swedish while the other traditional verses are also public domain.
