Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.1036581). 'Iguana' is an elementary piano solo w/lyrics from Lynne Cox's 'Noah's Ark Series'. This sassy iguana is from Costa Rica and he is dancing a tango! Set in D harmonic minor (A sections) and D natural minor (B section), 'Iggy' establishes the rhythmic ostinato that is typical of this Latin dance in the intro, and is repeated throughout the piece as the accompaniment coloring the entire piece. RH carries mostly the single-note melody with some 3rds and 6ths adding harmony. Form is: intro A B A coda. Lyrics are fun and very educational as to this reptile's characteristics, habitat, and lifestyle. There is an 'Actual Factual' page on the back explaining in depth the theory of the piece and his habitat. These 'Actual Factual' pages are on the backs of the solos in this 'Noah's Ark Series' in hopes that the student could make a project of this in school in science or social studies culminating in his/her performance of the piece on a portable keyboard. 'Noah's Ark Series' was created to introduce students to different musical styles and to global music. For the student what more fun guides could there be besides animals. Different animals in various locales introduce the student to numerous styles-in this piece, the sassy but lovable iguana being the guide. Try other pieces with lyrics in this series: 'Koala Lullaby' (lullaby); 'Cruising Down the Nile' (Mid-eastern style); 'Sam the Lamb' (Celtic); and 'Joey the Wallabee Kangaroo' (waltz). This series makes a great recital theme! Cruising Down the Nile

Published by Lynne Coc Publications (A0.997617). 'Cruising Down the Nile' is an easy intermediate piano solo w/lyrics. Explores the lovely exotic sound of Mid-eastern music. Lyrics depict Ancient Egypt and scenes along the Nile. Uses broken 5ths in LH accompaniment with syncopation to depict the plodding of camels through the desert, while melodically the RH plays along the upper tetrachord (last 4 notes) of G harmonic minor scale. I included a mordant and turn to mimic the shake of the tambourine used in Ancient Egyptian music. I chose the title because of a song I dearly loved to sing as a child, 'Cruising Down the River', by Beadell and Tollerton. Animals from this region such as hippos and crocodiles are the guides from Noahs Ark. My 'Noah's Ark Series' was created to introduce piano students to different musical styles and to global music. For the student what more fun guides could there be besides animals? Juan Maria Solare #906905. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1318234). Aserrando a una mujer (Sawing a Woman in Half)This might well be the first coloratura tango in history. And while it is innovative, it is deeply rooted in the tango tradition, both musically and thematically: one of the recurring themes of primitive tango was precisely the circus. The act of sawing a woman is the circus magic trick par excellence. This song was written and composed in mid-August 2023 and is dedicated to Coco Joura, who suggested the subjet. Lyrics and music by Juan MarÃa Solare. Each song is representative of a different style or genre, including dances, romances, work, and religious and songs. Spain has a long history of folk music dating back to the Middle Ages; a tradition that is still very much alive today. The music has been influenced by many different cultures over the centuries and has been the inspiration for musicians across the world.Songs1.Sevillanas are a type of folk song and associated dance for couples, originating in the nineteenth century. Today they are still very popular, particularly at fiestas and other social events.2.Cabaliño is a Galician work song about a young horse, arranged in the style of a flamenco tango.3. La Petenera is a combination of two songs in very different styles - a flamenco Petenera from AndalucÃa and a Mexican son huasteco, a genre that is noteworthy for its flamboyant and virtuoso violin parts.4. Saetas are religious songs that are performed at Easter (Semana Santa).5.There are many hundreds of versions of the old folk tale Gerineldo, telling the story of love between a Queen and her page boy. This Spanish/Jewish version is over 500 years old, from the time when the Moors ruled over much of the Iberian Peninsula.6.Villancico Asturiano is a traditional Christmas carol from Asturias, combined with a setting of a Christmas poem written in the seventeenth century by Robert Herrick for King Charles II of England.7.The lyrics from La Tarara are drawn from the poem of the same name by the Spanish poet Federico Lorca, who based his poem on a traditional children´s playground song. La Tarara is a mystical woman who dances around the countryside. The music in this version is in the style of a Tanguillo – a type of flamenco dance from Cadiz. Iguana
