Just like Joseph Haydn's E flat major concerto Hob VIIe:1 (1796), Hummel's Trumpet Concerto in E major of 1803 was also written for the Viennese soloist Anton Weidinger, who performed on a keyed trumpet that could produce the chromatic tones of an entire scale a unique achievement at that time. The work features unmistakable allusions to Mozart and even has a literal quote from a Cherubini opera in the final movement. Today, Hummel's concerto, next to the Haydn piece, is considered as THE classical trumpet concerto. It is no doubt thanks to this unique status that the work has been available in a transposition to E flat major since 1957, a version that better suits the B flat trumpet widely used today. The Urtext edition respects this performance-practical aspect: The piano reduction as well as the study score contain both versions. The score and orchestral parts can be obtained in two different editions.

Ital ian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) is considered one of the most prolific composers in all of classical music. During his lifetime, he composed more than 500 concertos, of which approximately 350 of them were for violin. Four works by Vivaldi were known to have been composed for solo lute, including this Concerto in D Major, F.XII n.15 in three movements: Allegro giusto, Largo, and Allegro. This edition includes the full orchestral score, orchestral parts, as well as guitar and lute parts. Victor Van Puijenbroeck has adapted the original solo part and included in the set are parts for both lute (the part has been adapted from lute tablature to modern notation) and guitar (capotasto). Instrumentation: Full Score, Guitar (or Lute) - separate parts included for each instrument, Violin I, Violin II, Cembalo/Cello/Contrabass.

Joseph Haydns Organ Concerto in C major Hob XVIII:1 was composed in 1756. The autograph stems from the archives of Breitkopf & Hartel and has been housed at the Universitats- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt since 1953. The first edition (score and orchestral parts) was published in 1953 by Breitkopf & Hartel in Wiesbaden. The present Urtext edition is the first to take into account the brass parts prescribed in the autograph, but not written out contained in a contemporary copy. Our new edition is based on the autograph. For the first time, the composition appears with brass (2 trumpets) as it is written in the autograph. Almost all transcripts preserved are presenting this version, too.

Carl Maria von Weber wrote the present concerto in 1811 for the Munich bassoon player Georg Friedrich Brandt. The date of the world premiere is not known; what is ascertained, however, is a performance in Prague on 19 February 1813 by Brandt, to whom the work was dedicated.Along with Mozarts B-flat major Concerto K. 191 (186e), Webers bassoon concerto is one of the most popular and frequently played concertos for this low woodwind instrument. Weber illustrates the instruments qualities by using a different form in each movement, as we can see in its primary themes: the opening movement is dominated by a rhythmically striking theme; cantabile passages set the tone for the more lightly scored Adagio; and in the closing Rondo. Allegro, the soloist can demonstrate his virtuosity from the very beginning through large intervallic leaps and rapid runs.Along with Mozart's B-flat major Concerto K. 191 (186e), Weber's bassoon concerto is one of the most popular and frequently played concertos for this low woodwind instrument.

Pietro Nardini was the most important pupil of Tartini regarding both violin playing and composition. Like his teacher, he attached special significance to the beauty of sound and the -suitability for singing, as is shown by reports of his contemporaries. Leopold Mozart, for example, wrote in one of his letters that he had heard a certain Nardini and that there could not be heard anything more beautiful in the tonal beauty, purity, harmony and in the singable taste. The two concertos in A major and F major consist of three movements with the traditional tempo order quick-slow-quick, each movement giving the soloist the opportunity to play a solo cadence.

Additionally, the edition contains some interesting insights on the concerto and keyed trumpet. (Luis C. Engelke, Music Reviews Editor).
