It sets a new standard in terms of the range and the broad stylistic features of popular as well as unknown compositions. Included are original Ave-Maria settings specifically arranged for medium voice and organ. Kantate Zum Fest Mariae Reinigung. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Setting in E minor. A new edition of the version for solo soprano by Bach, which can hold a place alongside the version for bass solo. Bach originally composed the cantata for the Feast of Purification for a solo bass in the key of C minor [CV 31. 082/00]. Since its scoring for only one solo voice made it easily adaptable for performances under different conditions, in the course of its compositional history it underwent many changes. The present version in E minor for solo soprano, which has been reconstructed, in part, by Ulrich Leisinger, enjoyed a great popularity among Bach’s family circle, as can be seen by copies of movements 2 and 3 in Anna Magdalena’s “zweitesNotenbüchlein. ” Both movements – certainly sung by her – are included in the appendix of this edition./ Répertoire / Solo S, Flûte Traversière, 2 Violons, Alto et Bass

This title is taken from the compilation French Songs And Choruses For Mixed-Voice Choir (NOV165198) Both Beata Viscera Mariae and O Magnum Mysterium (AL30765) are taken from Milhaud's 5 Prières for Voice and Organ (or Piano) Op. 231c. Arranged by Rupert Jeffcoat. Though the Cinq Prières were originally composed for solo voice and organ Jeffcoat has happily resisted the temptation to adapt Milhaud's short but distinctive works beyond what is necessary to transfer the music effectively to mixed voices. - Geoffrey Webber of choirandorgan.com
