Although Siloti had the composer's permission to edit the work he significantly shortened the second movement despiteTchaikovsky's objections and published the concerto with his own revisions after the composer's untimely death. Piano Concerto No. 2 is usually performed with Siloti's cuts; this edition offers performersboth versions. Originally intended as a symphony the Piano Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major was published as a one-movement work.
