William Walton Edition vol. 24 3/e Hardback-The final volume in Oxford University Press' William Walton series William Walton Edition: Volume 24 - A Catalogue is a comprehensive listing of the composer's works compiled by Stewart Craggs. It gives dates and details for the composition first performance and publication of every work as well as a bibliography and information on recordings.

John Buller was born in London in 1927. He enjoyed a musical childhood but it was not until this thirties after a career as an architectural surveyor that his began to concentrate on his musical career. In 1975 he became Composer-in-Residence at the University of Edinburgh as holder of the visiting Forman Fellowship. In 1978 he was awarded an Arts Council Bursary and in 1985-6 he was Composer-in-Residence at Queens University Belfast. He died in 2004.

Orchestral & Instrumental Carol & Hymn Accompaniments-John Rutter's Christmas Lullaby for SATB and Piano/small Orchestra. Christmas Lullaby was commissioned in 1989 by the Bach Choir in celebration of the seventieth birthday of its conductor Sir David Willcocks. The haunting melody of the verses and the reflective refrain of 'Ave Maria' have made this an immensely popular carol.

Hardback-This volume contains newly edited versions of four important later orchestral works by William Walton: Capriccio Burlesco Improvisations on an Impromptu of Benjamin Britten Prologo e Fantasia and Varii Capricci. The first three works were written for American orchestras: Capriccio Burlesco was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for its 125th anniversary year in 1968; the Improvisations based on a theme from Britten's Piano Concerto No. 1 was written in 1969 and dedicated to the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra; Prologo e Fantasia was written in 1981-2 for the National SymphonyOrchestra of Washington DC. The last work Varii Capricci was a free transcription for orchestra by Walton of his Five Bagatelles for Guitar and written for the opening of the Royal Festival Hall in 1976.

William Walton Edition vol. 13 Hardback-A critical edition of Walton's Sinfonia Concertante for orchestra with piano. The edition includes the original 1927 version and the revised 1943 version which reduces the size of the orchestra and simplifies the piano part.

This is the first publication of the definitive score of Troilus and Cressida. Following its premiere in 1954 Walton made substantial cuts and a version reflecting this was prepared for performance by Opera North in 1995. It is published here with full critical commentary. All material is available on hire.

Orchestral & Instrumental Material for Choral Pieces-Cello part for Sarah Quartel's Snow Angel. This solo Cello part accompanies Sarah Quartel's evocative five-movement choral work Snow Angel which explores themes of love rebirth and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them. The haunting and poignant Cello line is woven through the work. This Cello part is compatible with the upper and mixed voice versions of Snow Angel.

The Immortal was commissioned by the BBC World Service and was premiered at the BBC Proms in 2004. This work pays tribute to the influence of Chinese artists and intellectuals in the twentieth century. With an undercurrent of tranquillity and meditation the work features a powerful and rhythmic introduction from which emerges a section of sustained high-pitched glissandos as well as lyrical melodies and expressive glissandos that characterise many of the solo motifs.

Paperback-Based on Mussorgsky's [Musorgsky's] original autograph from 1867 rather than the famous arrangement by Rimsky-Korsakov this work combines the scholarship of the conductor's edition with the practical benefits of a study score format.This edition takes account of practical performing considerations where necessary and includes an introduction by the editor.
