This exciting overture opens with a fanfare section that emphasizes the brass and is active rhythmically as well as harmonically. A strong full sound will result from the richly scored chromatic parallel triads. For musicalcontrast the middle section is quasi-rubato and very lyrical relying mainly on the woodwinds with low brass added later. The transition back to the original rhythmic fanfare is smoothly written and effectively brings the work toa close. This overture is a fine choice for concert contest and festival. (Grade 3)

A brass chorale opening leading into the famous finale that will delight and excite any crowd. Lots of percussion and strong outdoor scoring will lead to an exciting climax.

As the title implies here is an exciting and powerful composition for very young players. Written in minor and using a single tempo throughout this piece provides nice feature spots for your horns/saxes as well as trumpets. Theclarinet parts are all written below the break and these players will enjoy the menacing-sounding trills. (Grade 1.5)
