Fine Day? is a work for unaccompanied double bass that portrays a conversation b...(+)
Fine Day? is a work for unaccompanied double bass that portrays a conversation between two Hirta wifies perhaps meeting by chance while going about their daily lives. The first lady is older calm and serene - she's seen it all before and expects to see nothing new. In bar 9 a younger lady appears - much more animated and excited and bursting with gossip. The characters converse with a double bar and often a tempo change indicating the change of speaker. While the younger lady becomes very animated (and slightly frustrated) trying to ply her elder with today's juiciest gossip the older lady remains calm and serene apparently showing little interest untilthe final bars where after her neighbour has walked away she smiles and we see that she was listening after all...Skerry Selkie: 'Skerry' is an old Norse word for a small rocky island in the sea. Most Skerries are populated only by birds and seals. 'Selkie' is a local dialect word used right along the north coast of Scotland to describe seals. It also refers to a creature of Norse myth which could transform from seal to human form at will. Selkies like mermaids would mischievously enchant sailors with their beautiful singing...

The first classical Organ method for children the Suzuki Organ School is based on Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's Mother Tongue Method. The Suzuki Method® of Talent Education is based on Suzuki's view that every child is born with ability and that people are the product of their environment. According to Suzuki a world-renowned violinist and teacher the greatest joy an adult can know comes from developing a child's potential so he/she can express all that is harmonious and best in human beings. Each series of books for a particular instrument in the Suzuki Method is considered a Suzuki music school such as the Suzuki Organ School. The student listens to the recordings and work with their Suzuki organ teacher to develop their potential as a musician and as a person. This Suzuki Book & CD is essential for Suzuki Organ lessons. In certain pieces the authors have placed small phonetic signs above the notes to indicate differentiated non legato playing. In order to develop pedal technique pedal melodies are included between every manual piece. The included performance CD for Volume 1 is a great tool for Suzuki Organ lessons encouraging practice while featuring recordings by Lars Hagström.Titles: 'A Little Fairytale' (Rönnberg) 'Allegretto' (Czerny) 'Amaryllis' (Ghys) 'Chant Arabe' (Anonymous) 'Cuckoo' (German Folk Song) 'Go Tell Aunt Rhody' (Folk Song) 'Gossip Tune' (German Folk Song) 'Herdsman's Song' (Danish Folk Song) 'Hippopotamus' (Rönnberg) 'Hot Dog' (English Folk Song) 'Lightly Row' (German Folk Song) 'Little Playmates' (Chwatal) 'Little Snail' (Traditional) 'London Bridge' (English Folk Song) 'Lullaby' (German Folk Song) 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' (Folk Song) 'My School Day' (Folk Song) 'Paris' (French Folk Song) 'Piglet' (G. The symphonic poem Night on a Bald Mountain took its inspiration from a story by the well known Russian writer Nicola Gogol. Mussorgsky took no steps to promote his masterpiece and it was only after his death when Rimsky-Korsakov was looking through the enormous stack of manuscripts that the work resurfaced. Written above the score Mussorgsky gives a brief description of the story of Night on a Bald Mountain: Gathering Witches their gossip and chit-chat; The Procession of Satan; Pagan Worship of Satan and Witches Sabbath. This transcription for concert band by Tohru Takahasi remains true to the orchestral original.
