2 Books with Online Audio. Gaspar Sanz was one of the most celebrated guitarists and composers of his time. In 1674 he published a method for the baroque guitar. This method has been lauded by guitar aficionados and serves as a significant historic work. Written in Old Spanish with the tablature system of its day, this method has only been available to the few who would meticulously research and decipher its hidden meanings. Available here is the complete manuscript of Sanz's legacy, which has been translated into English and the tablature arrangements now include standard music notation. Jerry Willard has also included arrangements for the modern guitar and performs selections from this body of work on both the baroque and modern guitar which can be found on the accompanying audio. Audio is accessed online using the unique code inside the book and can be streamed or downloaded. The Spanish composer guitarist teacher and priest Gaspar Sanz (1640-1710) was one of the leading proponents of the Baroque Guitar. He is best known for his three pedagogical works for the instrument that are still used today by scholars and academics. The collection of four Danzas Cervantinas was written in 1674 in homage to the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616) who is famed across the world as the writer of Don Quixote. They have been edited and arranged for the modern instrument by Regino Sainz de la Maza (1896-1981) a virtuosic guitarist and composer who toured all across the world.
