Personal Note My high school band director, Clarence F. Wroblewski, died on November 24, 2018. In the 1950s, he was a pioneer in the field of public school instrumental music in Baltimore City. He was my mentor and my dear friend. It was his guidance and encouragement that set my young life's course on the path of music. Performance Notes Ceremony of Peace contains only the notes of the ascending pentatonic scale: Bb, C, Eb, F, and G. The middle voice written for Oboe, Tenor Sax and Horn uses the note D at cadences. The character of the music should give the impression of ceremonial music performed on primitive instruments. The Tom-Tom parts are exactly the same as the Snare Drum and Bass Drum parts. The director may decide whether to use one or the other or both. If Snare Drum with snares off is used, try it with mallets instead of drum sticks. If a Bass Drum is used be certain that it does not overpower the band. The director may choose to turn it on its side and muffle it with a towel. In the Percussion 2 part Sleigh Bells may double with the Tambourine to add a primitive, ceremonial sound. The Clarinet part may be doubled an octave higher in bands where this is possible.Personal NoteMy high school band director, Clarence F. Wroblewski, died on November 24, 2018. During the winter months, large winter storms occur from time to time. These storms can be dangerous and beautiful at the same time. This composition starts off fast, dark, and furious and moves into a lighter side during the middle section and ending as it started. Pay close attention to all articulations and dynamics throughout the piece. Maintain a perfect balance between winds and percussion. The percussion section was written for groups who have many percussionists. Enjoy your journey through The Winter Storm.

At Her Ladyship's Request (2016) was an idea born out of admiration for the wind works of Percy Grainger - most notably his Lincolnshire Posey. The names and places here are all fictitious. Four countrymen have come forward at Her Ladyship's request as we commoners (and for as long as I can remember) have been led to believe Her Highness has grown complacent in her aged betrothal to His Lordship. I. It has long been established in this hill country that young, svelte Tom Abel has caught her fancy eye. He knocks about with the swagger of a visiting dignitary, confident and cocksure. And then there is his father's fortune. Cecil Abel may be the richest man in the land save for His Lordship. Tom, his only son, will run his face straight into that pile the moment his old man kicks. II. It is rare to spy Father Daniel Bennett, High Priest from the Abbey at Lockwood Cross, loitering in our very own town square...but not as of late. III. Is Her Ladyship so desperate as to call upon Old Man Dimplesweet? Were you to confirm this, I would have straightened my back and spit the ground before you. Then I saw what could not possibly be misconstrued. And where is His Lordship anyway? IV. Pettybone! Conniving... insidious. I don't believe there has been a greater rivalry among men for generations. The Duke's ego alone could run our nation. The grudges he grows are notorious. His mount is legendary. The day has come to collect his toll.At Her Ladyship’s Request (2016) was an idea born out of admiration for the wind works of Percy Grainger – most notably his Lincolnshire Posey. The names and places here are all fictitious. A unique edition - all readings at a glanceThis new edition, in contrast to the array of Bach Cello Suite publications available today, has made use of all the five sources which have come down to us. The basis for this edition is the most reliable of the sources, the manuscript copy in the hand of Anna Magdalena Bach. All variant readings from the four other sources are clearly laid out for performance. Cellists now have the possibility of rendering performances based on just one of the five sources as well as the option of combining the sources in a mixed version. This flyer takes you through our various editions of Bach's Cello Suites.

With the final verse of the Book of Daniel from the Old Testament and a related cantata text, Telemann mourns the death of a prominent, but until now unknown dignitary in a cantata marked by great intimacy and with exquisite instrumentation. Jakob Ditmar, the Kantor of the Nikolaikirche in Berlin, to whom we owe the survival of this work, contributed two beautiful chorale settings for a performance in 1757. First critical edition of this cantata. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3913900.

Telemann's Missa brevis on the Christmas hymn Ein Kindelein so lobelich is one of eleven surviving Latin Missae breves based on church hymns. The motetlike composition calls for a mixed choir accompanied by a basso continuo, reinforced by colla-parte instruments. However, the mass can also be performed solely with an organ accompaniment. Gottlob Harrer, the successor to Johann Sebastian Bach as Thomaskantor, performed the mass in Leipzig at Christmas in 1750 and 1751 with an instrumental accompaniment and for this purpose he added two horns. They are included in the present edition as ad libitum parts. Score and part available separately - see item CA.3909700.

The winter holiday season might bring to mind the Toy Soldier Dance as performed annually by the famous Radio City Rockettes. There were in fact a number of composers who wrote march music for toy, tin or wooden soldiers. Four of those songs have been included in this medley: Parade of the Wooden (or Tin) Soldiers by Leon Jessel, March of the Toys from the operetta Babes in Toyland by Victor Herbert, Fritz Kreiser's Toy Soldier March for violin and piano, and March of the Wooden Soldiers from Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. This arrangement, Toy Soldier Marches, is designed for high school band because of the rhythmic technique required by the compositions, although the ranges remain much easier. The ambitious director might incorporate some uniformed marching band students into the performance as wooden soldiers marching down the aisles. The winter holiday season might bring to mind the Toy Soldier Dance as performed annually by the famous Radio City Rockettes.
