About Suzuki Method

The Suzuki Method is based on the principle that all children possess ability and that this ability can be developed and enhanced through a nurturing environment. All children learn to speak their own language with relative ease and if the same natural learning process is applied in teaching other skills, these can be acquired as successfully. Suzuki referred to the process as the Mother Tongue Method and to the whole system of pedagogy as Talent Education. The first volume of the present trumpet tutor comprises the teaching material for the preparatory and first grades of the music schools. It consists of two parts: in the first pupils learn the range of sound prescribed in the curriculum whereas in the second they continuously acquire the prescribed scales and rhythm formulae. Since musical training is laid special emphasis on, only children's songs, folk-songs and some pieces of art music have been included, i.e. whenever possible melodies that pupils have already come to learn previously at school apart from the explicitly functional studies.
