String Quartet No. 22 in B-flat major, K. 589 was composed in May 1790 and is the second of the Prussian Quartets in four movements:
1. Allegro, 2. Larghetto, 3. Menuetto, 4. Allegro assai
The quartet, written in the style of Haydn, is dedicated to Friedrich Wilhelm II, the King of Prussia, an amateur cellist.
This excellent arrangement by Charles Vernon of the Chicago Symphony for Trombone quartet is about 24 minutes in length and is appropriate for virtuoso performers.

This work is sung most often during Holy Week. Paul Garza's lovely arrangement for Trombone quartet is for moderately advanced performers.

Johnny Marks iconic Christmas song A Holly Jolly Christmas (yes,sung by the inimitable Burl Ives) has been arranged for Trombone Quartet in a 50's swing style by Lisa Albrecht. This great arrangement is about 3 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced intermediate performers.

Equali were works written for equal, or similar, instruments; in the eighteenth century they were almost always used for funeral services and usually employed a quartet of trombones. The most famous of these were the three Beethoven wrote for the Linz Cathedral in Austria on All Soul's Day 1812. Two of these were adapted later for male voices and were sung at Beethoven's funeral.

These pieces are some of the most famous works for trombones, no doubt due to the fact that they were composed by Beethoven. They were commissioned by Franz Xaver Gloggl, Kappelmeister of the city of Linz, while Beethoven was visiting his brother. According to later accounts by Gloggl's son, although his father had a complete collection of trombones (soprano, alto, tenor, bass or quart) the three Equali were performed by a traditional quartet of alto, tenor and bass trombones.

This edition offers a compromise: the original score and parts are given exactly as written in the complete works, and a version designed for the less experienced players: the three movements are transposed down one step, edited with minor musical suggestions, and all four parts are written in bass clef.

White Christmas was written in 1940 and first performed by Bing Crosby on Christmas Day of 1941 (just a few weeks after the Pearl Harbor attack) and first recorded in 1942. It is one of the best selling songs ever written and is still dear to the hearts of many during the holiday season. Lisa Albrecht has beautifully arranged this 3 1/2 minute song for Trombone Quartet for intermediate to moderately advanced performers (parts are all in bass clef). A ricercar is an instrumental work that was popular in the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Jeremy Kempton's stirring Ricercar for Sonorous Instruments harkens back to the Venetian splendor of the Gabrielis who epitomized the Glory of Venice at its height. This 3 minute work is in A-B-A form beginning with a fanfare-like Allegro that gives way to a contrasting lyrical section which seems to almost melt away. The piece then returns to the opening Allegro and a hall-ringing conclusion. This work is appropriate for advanced performers.

The Eight Little Fugues, each originally paired with preludes are often performed in churches because of their technical ease and brevity. They have finally been attributed to Bach by most scholars after a number of years of doubt. They are less technically difficult than the full-blown fugues of Bach, but still equally full of beauty and commanding mastery.
They are all less than 3 minutes in length with four in major keys and four in minor, appropriate for moderately advanced performers.
These may be performed in a quartet or choir setting with multiple performers on a part.
