Par . This volume from the series Music from Chopin's Land includes three (differing in terms of form and style) works by Polish composers for a piano duo. These compositions, dedicated for students aged 14-16 and amateur pianists, shall help acquaint them with the issues of a piano duo and the charm of four-hand piano playing. Four-hand piano playing poses an exceptional challenge. It develops a wide concept of sound diversification, control over hands and their technique, and a unique ability to unify articulation of both pianists. The pianists, while listening to their individual play and concentrating on the play of their partners, become enriched with special sensitivity to the sound quality. A piano duo teaches sensitivity to the other person and mutual responsibility for the preparation and performance of the work. This constitutes the biggest challenge to chamber music, bringing remarkable satisfaction and joy out of mutual music making. / Date parution : 2023-11-03/ Recueil / Piano 4 Mains

Par ROZYCKI LUDOMIR. It is surprising that in undoubtedly too few publications discussing the life and art of Ludomir Rózycki the attention is paid primarily to his operatic and symphonic works, while piano pieces as well as chamber music are pushed to the margins, analysed incidentally. Meanwhile, they constitute a significant part of his legacy. Rózycki was a composer who magnificently operated with changing moods; he painted colourful musical pictures, packed with symbols, meanings, inspirations, depicting his brilliant imagination and stimulating the minds of his listeners. A cumulation of all these elements of his style in solo and chamber pieces is indeed a sign of his technique. The presented volume, consisting of the poems for the piano, is a great example of it. The publication intended for professional pianists. / Date parution : 2023-10-31/ Recueil / Piano

NATIONAL EDITION SERIES A VOLUME 7 Jan Ekier. Par CHOPIN FREDERIC. The Preludes of Op. 28 include all 24 major and minor tonalities arranged in a circle of fifths, with each major key being followed by its relative minor. Contrary to custom of using this type of piece as didactic material, Chopin's cycle was intended as concert music. The Preludes are a diverse variety of mood, tempo, articulation, texture, etc.The objective of the National Edition is to present Chopin's complete output in its authentic form, based on the entire body of available sources. Sources were analysed with up-to-date scientific and musicological methodology. The National Edition was based on sources originated from the composer, mainly autographs, copies of autographs and first editions with the composer's corrections, and pupils' copies with Chopin's annotations. In cases when original sources were lacking, the closest possible materials were used. Collecting the source materials was a laborious task which took years of effort. The characteristics of sources, the links and discrepancies between them as well as the reasons for particular editorial decisions are discussed in the Source Commentary in each volume. The Performance Commentary appended to each volume includes: the realisation of ornaments, comments on pedal markings (the original markings sometimes are inadequate, due to the difference in sound between pianos used in Chopin`s times and modern pianos), suggestions as to the harmonic legato (a performance technique often used by Chopin and now forgotten). Par ROZYCKI LUDOMIR. Triptych Polish Dances op. 37 is a unique collection compared to Ludomir Rózycki's work. For Rózycki, inspirations from Polish folklore are an excuse to fantasize and create fascinating musical images distinguished by interesting harmonies, original rhythms and articulatory diversity. In these miniatures we will find a synthesis of various dances, modal thinking derived from folklore, interpenetration of major and minor modes, and rhythmic shifts. The nuances of tempo, motivic variability, articulatory diversity and dynamic contrasts are noteworthy. Par ROZYCKI LUDOMIR. This volume contains piano pieces by Ludomir Rózycki, which refer to the fantasy genre. Fantaisie (Fantasia) op. 11 is a youthful piece in which the individual creative language of the Young Poland composer resounds. The dark, mystical mood of the composition is interrupted by an almost tender cantilena theme. Fantaisiestücke (Fantastic Pieces) op. 46 come from a later period of his work. Each of the five miniatures constitutes a separate, compelling musical image. The publication intended for professional musicians. / Date parution : 2023-10-31/ Recueil / Piano

for clarinet, violin, viola, cello, piano and percussion. Par PTASZYNSKA MARTA. Composition was written in 2008 on a commission from the University of Chicago for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Olivier Messiaen's birth. This tree movement work attempts to refer to Messiaen's work, in particular to the beautiful sonorities of the Quatour pour la fin du temps. From ancient time the rainbow has been considered a symbol of reconciliation of man with God, literally, associated with a colourful spectrum of lights. In this work this colorful spectrum is audible in a multitude of sonorities and timbres which are gradually and continouously changing, similary to the spectral development of the colours in a rainbow. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Clarinette, Violon, Alto, Violoncelle, Piano et Pe

for carillon. Par PRZYBYLSKI DARIUSZ. First composer contact with the carillon came in March 2022, in the tower of the Main Town Hall in Gdansk. The instruments unusual location, as well as the remarkable space through which its music resounds, aroused composer imagination in such a way as to trigger visions or hallucinations in sound, which in turn inspired the work presented here. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Carillon

Series C, Vol. II. Par NOWOWIEJSKI FELIKS. The undeniable artistic value of Organ Symphony 2 - the freedom of narration with the discipline in forming the form, the originality of the harmonic solutions, and finally the skilful use of the qualities of the native church song - certainly encourages us to look close at this interesting representative of organ literature. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Orchestre

for piano. Par MIRECKI FRANCISZEK. Franciszek Mirecki?s Four Polonaises, Op. 8 were published in 1817, by Ricordi of Milan. Distinguished by their salon character, these works are full of elegance and charm, and they are also not lacking in fanfare passages. In terms of both design and expression, they are close to compositions of this type by Mirecki?s teacher, Johann Nepomuk Hummel. / Date parution : 2023-06-01/ Répertoire / Piano

Par PERKOWSKI PIOTR. Easy Pieces for Piano by Piotr Perkowski is a collection of nine compositions first published by PWM in the '40s and' 50s of the 20th century. The pieces are intended for first-grade students of a music school, but not for the very beginning of their adventure with the piano, but for the following years of study (grades 4-6). Recipients will meet in a set of varied compositions that allow you to practice legato, staccato, fast rhythmic flows and irregular rhythms at various speeds. The titles of the compositions refer to simple musical forms, children's games and the everyday life of the youngest. The renewed edition from 2022, in a format that is convenient for children, is a great addition to the library of the youngest pianists. / Date parution : 2022-12-12/ Recueil / Piano

Par STANCZYK MARCIN. In the mid-twentieth century, Wladyslaw Strzeminski painted a series of solaristic pictures entitled Powidoki swiatla (?Afterimages of light?), illustrating the optical impressions triggered by gazing at the sun. They can be observed when we look at the sun and then suddenly turn our eyes to a white sheet of paper. We then see a reflection of the light ? a trail in blue, contrasting with the yellow. The reflection of the notes in this work are their harmonics. The three movements are formed from the relationship between the fundamental pitches and their overtones. The first is built on the principle of the mutual contrast between the sounding ?light? and its ?afterimages?. In the second movement, the transitions between the ?lights? and their ?afterimages? are smooth, while in the third, the juxtaposing of fundamentals and overtones is initially smooth, but then alters in the direction of the contrast from the beginning of the work. / Date parution : 2022-12-12/ Répertoire / Contrebasse

Par ZUBEL AGATA. The musical axis of the opera Bildbeschreibung consists of the relations between the soloistically treated instruments, the parts of which are based on the realisation by the performers of layers of sound ? understood not just as the exploration of their own instrument, but above all the presentation or representation in sound of the text. Each of the parts forges an area of ?pictorial description?, so it is designed to lead the listener to ask what came before and how this came about. The multiplicity and ambiguity of such speculation gives us an open catalogue of representa-tions. As it is open, it is impossible to indicate the number of associations that would be appropriate ? too few or too many. Quite simply, the greater whole perceived from the perspective of a single soloist or through the prism of a single aria entitles us to highlight the idea of Bildbeschreibung in the same way that we can begin to see or analyse any picture, starting with a single detail, motif or figure. So such an aria is not an excerpt like the hits from the history of classical opera. It is a lens that ? as occurs throughout the opera Bildbeschreibung ? focusses attention on a selected detail, and the soloists themselves, without the comfort of showing themselves against the background of the whole event, are tempted from the outset to divine the origins of Bildbeschreibung. / Date parution : 2022-12-12/ Répertoire / Trompette

Par KOLBUSZ ALEKSANDRA. Long before writing Passalega, I harboured the idea of creating some form of organically homogeneous chain of musical tensions evolving ever more distinctly into a musical utterance, although still indeterminate in terms of pitch. The tissues forming the chain of those tensions were of relatively simple design, yet in spite of this ? or perhaps because of it ? they were incredibly well suited to generating the expressive narrative that accompanied me throughout that entire pre-composition period. After recognising the character of the musical potential in that material, I considered it to be similar to Baroque rhetoric in terms of the refined clarity and smoothness of the gestures. Inspired by this, I sought to articulate this material in the fullest possible way by tracing a chain of swelling tensions, referring to a homogeneously polyphonic string quartet. / Date parution : 2022-12-12/ Répertoire / Quatuor à Cordes

Par LUTOSLAWSKI WITOLD. Subito ? literally meaning ?suddenly? ? is a virtuosic scherzo filled with dazzling colours. The title itself defines the character of this work. Its expression is shaped by violent changes of tempo and dynamics, clashes between brilliant passagework and distinct articulation, on the one hand, and lyrical phrases, on the other, and a constant contrast between intense sonorities and light textures. The work?s concise form consigns it to the catalogue of so-called miniature pieces. Subito for violin and piano was composed in 1992 for the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. This arrangement for clarinet expands the instrument?s solo repertoire with a work of the highest compositional calibre, representing a mature stage in Witold Lutoslawski?s oeuvre. Among clarinettists, the composer is known principally for the Dance Preludes, which appear both on concert bills and also on the programmes of competitions and auditions. I believe that Subito can gain an equally prominent place in the clarinet literature and help to boost the popularity of Lutoslawski?s music among performers. / Date parution : 2022-12-12/ Répertoire / Clarinette et Piano
