Bagatelle is a light-hearted piece for Violin and Piano which makes up for its lack of substance with considerable charm and style. Its composer John Ireland (1879-1962) was an English classicalcomposer and teacher who came to epitomise and even define the late Edwardian style in which he was educated. He is perhaps best known for his choral works but also composed extensively for orchestra and chamber ensembles. Composed in 1911 Bagatelle was dedicated to the Violin virtuoso Marjorie Haywood (1886-1953) who was a leading violinist of the day and a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music from1924.

The Months is a Unison anthem with Piano accompaniment. It takes its lyrics from an old farm labourers' song (Roud 1954) which describes each of the months of the year in turn. This setting celebrates themonths of May and June and is perfect for any Spring festival.Eric Thiman (1900-1975) was a British composer and organist. He taught at the Royal Academy of Music and at the University of London and was organistat the City Temple in London for many years. He wrote over a thousand works of which several hundred were published during his lifetime mostly anthems chorales and chamber works.

Wilhelm Ganz (1833-1914) was a German musician who escaped from the continent in 1848 and spent the rest of his life in London. As a violinist and conductor he worked alongside Berlioz and Wagner and held a singingprofessorship at the Guildhall School of Music. Despite being well-regarded in his lifetime his compositional work has largely fallen into obscurity over the last century.Ganz’s Op.12 is Qui Vive(c.1860-70): inspired by the Galop a lively country dance but intended for concert performance. It is scored for a Piano Duet and keeps the pianists entertained by modulating several times through closely linked keys based around Eb Major.

Thomas Baron Pitfield (1903-1999) was a polymath and one of the last of the generation of English composers which came to prominence after the Second World War. Along with his contemporaries such as Michal Tippet andAlan Rawsthorne he helped to revitalise English classical music following the deaths of Elgar Holst and Delius. Apart from composing a vast amount of music most of which has now sadly been forgotten he was also an accomplishedbookbinder calligrapher artist poet cabinet maker and teacher. Tramping Song is a traditional folk song. It has been scored for TTBB Male Voice chorus.

Terence ?Terry? Greaves (1933-2009) was a British composer music teacher and examiner. He was a chorister at Welbeck Abbey in Nottinghamshire and read Music at Keble College Oxford before becoming a lecturer at theBirmingham School of Music and later Dean at the Royal Manchester College of Music. He was also a dedicated examiner and moderator for the ABRSM for over 40 years writing many works as examination pieces. ClarinetValsante is a romantic waltz for Clarinet and Piano. First published in 1989 it is suitable for intermediate players and makes the ideal piece for any concert or recital.

Green Hills is a work for solo Piano by William Alwyn. Written in 1936 it is dedicated to Hugo Anson (1894-1958) a New Zealand born composer and pianist who taught at the Royal College ofMusic from 1925 onwards. William Alwyn (1905-1985) was a British composer conductor and pedagogue. He was professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music from 1926 to 1955 and also played Flute with theLondon Symphony Orchestra. He wrote five symphonies and over sixty film scores but also composed several Piano works for young players some of which were used as exam pieces.
