Score and Parts-Aria for Oboe and Strings may be performed in either two versions: with string orchestra or with string quintet. The materials provided here include footnotes indicating how the piece should be performed dependning onwhich version is selected. The first performance of Aria was given by the Connecticut String Orchestra on January 6th 1977 with Bert Lucarelli oboe and Renato Bonacini conductor. Aria was adapted fromthe composer's Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra which is available on rental from the publisher. Duration: ca. 6 minutes.

This landmark five-movement string symphony was commissioned by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in honor of the 100th anniversary ofsymphony hall in that city and premiered there on November 30 2000 with Seiji Ozawa conducting. The composer's comments about the music appear in an introduction to the score.

Score-The title Gazebo Dances was suggested by the pavilions (often seen on village greens in towns throughout the countryside) where public band concerts are given on summer evenings. The delights of that sort ofentertainment are portrayed in this set of dances which begins with a Rossini-like Overture is followed by a rather peg-legged Waltz a long-lined Adagio and finishes with a bouncy Tarantella.

In orchestral chamber opera and film work he has won globalacclaim for his highly expressive and compelling compositions as well as his kaleidoscopic ever-expanding technique.

Score and Parts-This string quartet was inspired by a photo of Corigliano's father playing a violin and his uncle playing the guitar. It was commissioned by the Elements String Quartet and premiered in November 2003 at Merkin Concert Hall inNew York City.

One of contemporary music's most distinguished composers John Corigliano has infused classical music with new life by engaging an unusually broad audience. The only person to have won two Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Classical Composition he has alsoreceived three other Grammy Awards the 2001 Pulitzer Prize in Music for his Symphony No. 2 the 2000 Academy Award for his score for The Red Violin (his third film score) and the 1991 Grawemeyer Award for Best New Orchestral Composition for his Symphony No. 1.
