Interest : Skill level : Just because you have a guitar
sound on your sound card does
not mean that you have written
a piece for guitar! Choose
your instruments carefully and
think about how they are
played. There could have been
so much more in here than you
have given. Guitars can play
chords as well. To the actual
music though.... the refrain
is a lovely little tune which
is gives a feel of 3/4 time
whilst the B and C sections
wander a little bit. You might
have been better off looking
at how to develop your refrain
ideas through modulating keys
or take rhythmical elements
and utilise the capabilities
of the instruments. Again
don'ts assume that because you
have used a sound that the
music IS for those
instruments. For example this
might have worked better upon
two fiddles AND it would have
sounded even more folk music
like. Don't be afraid to
experiment with small motifs
and exhaust their potential.
Some of the greatest pieces of
music ever written are
explorations of only a few
notes or chord changes e.g.
pachelbel's canon

Interest : Skill level : Not too bad for an early
attempt at composing at piano.
There are obvious influences
of folk music at play here.
Think about the melody, which
for a large portion of the
music is in octaves.
Experiment with thirds,
fourths, fifths and
sixths.....you might even push
the boat out and try sevenths
to add a crunchy effect to
your pieces. Simple structure
ABA1 work well for young
composers because you can try
out ideas in a straight
forward structure. The B
section works better than the
A section simply because there
is less octaves and we can
hear the tune without the
feeling that "you have to hear
this"! which is one of the
effects of using octaves.

Interest : Skill level : Samuel a raison. Tu devrais
apprendre à developper tes
thèmes. Ils ne sont pas
mauvais. Loin de là, mais, tu
donnes l'impression de ne pas
avoir mis tout ce que tu
possedes comme talent. Est-ce
le cas?
