Grigor Iliev was born on December 12, 1977, in Sandanski, Bulgaria. At the age of 15 he began playing guitar. Two months latter he started playing piano and soon the piano becomes his favorite instrument.
In 1999 he suspended his musical initiatives and began studying computer science. He received a bachelor's degree in Informatics from South-West University "Neofit Rilski" in 2003, and in 2004 was assigned as an assistant professor in the Computer Science department of the same university. Being a follower of the open source idea, in 2005 he joined the development of the LinuxSampler project, working mainly on the creation of platform-independent frontend for LinuxSampler. At that time he also resumed his musical initiatives and in October 2005, thanks to the open source software, his first professional recording - "Winter Story" was finally out.
Making his music freely available to his fans through number of sites, podcasts and radio stations Grigor Iliev gained a big exposure and his music was spread all over the world. (Hide extended text) ... (Read all)
Interest : Skill level : while Mozart was watching
Beethoven playing the piano,
he whispered to some of the
bystanders, " Mark that young
man; he will make himself a
name in the world!"..
Now, i would probably say that
to people if I saw you playing
that gorgeous Sonata even
though I don't have the same
skills of Mozart, but sure do
wish.
Keep up the great work!

Interest : Skill level : to Karen: I think He wrote a
beautiful piece. The reason it
is not in perfect timing, is
because, it was transcribed
into sheet music via a midi
keyboard, and, since there is
a lot of rubato, it does not
record it very well. I would
not say it is too long. In
fact, he could have very
easily expanded it's lenght.
If you look at Chopin's
Larghetto from his Piano
Concerto no.2(?), it is
composed in a very free form,
and being quite lengthy. I'm
afraid you are used to today's
ternary form, which is very
short and direct, whereas this
piece is almost a fantasia,
easily lending itself to
improvisation. If you compare
it to the Largo from Vivaldi's
Winter from "Il Quattro
Stagione", it is very wintery,
and not at all poorly written.
I first came accross this
piece at
www.icking-music-archive.org,
and he has posted these very
same pieces.
