Very little is known of Calegari. According to Angelo Gilardino, "According to the sources I have at hand, his dates are unknown. Terzi-Vio-Raspelli reference his birth at the end of the XVIIIth century, but do not provide any references beyond their statement. The different sources give Florence as his birthplace and refer to his journey to Germany, where he published music."
